The maiden flight of the Beaver took place on September
26, 2007, in
Soest/Germany. In Germany, any model aircraft weighing in at more than 25
kg
needs to go through a thorough testing regiment in order to obtain a waiver.
Our test pilot James Metternich successfully flew the Beaver twice that day.
After those first flights, flight testing continued; our Beaver subsequently
has made more than 60 additional flights. In 2008, we introduced the
airplane at model airplane meets all over Europe and the United States,
where the model has been a sensation.
We also tested the STOL capabilities of the Beaver. The model’s
performance
is just as impressive as that of the original: at full throttle, the plane
is airborne after a mere 115 feet. Landing is just as impressive—less
than
200 feet from touchdown to standstill!
The aircraft has been thoroughly tested; it has been used, abused and
put
through its paces many times over. The Beaver has been performing flawlessly
and is ready for serial production.
